“Major” GAS as in Marshall Major. Yes, at times those delicate towers of 150-200w power sound like freakin’ GOLD, baby! The vid below is what I’m talking about.
All you need to know is that most Marshall majors will never sound anything like this unless modded. As the guy who made the vid says (YouTube username of riffguy), “I’ve cascaded the channels and added a master volume.” Btw, this is a 1971 Marshall Major played through Celestion Greenbacks (25w).
Riffguy is a good player. Tone-wise this vid is definitely classic rock-ish, but I’m hearing a little more gain a la the early ’80s – once in while I hear some Nuno Bettencourt tone and style in there.
I got Major GAS from this vid, looked into it and watched a couple eBay auctions (two Majors recently went for around $1K), but decided to save my pennies for an amp I know will sound great.

Before you get your GAS up too much for a Major, you really need to physically pick one up. Seriously.
Amazing tone. Blistering without a Master Volume, which sounds absolutely insane.
